Conclusions I.Nicorandil could improve significantly myocardial hypertrophy and diastolicdysfunction of rats with diabetic cardiomyopathy and protect myocardium frominjury. 2.Nicorandil may play myocardial protection by reducing intracellular calcium overload,inhibiting oxidative stress,reducing myocardial oxidative loadand decreasing cellular energy consumption by opening ATP-sensitive potassium channels.
