? Oxymoron (矛盾修辞法) ? A figure of speech in which apparent contradictory terms bined to produce an epigrammatic effect. It is formed by the conjoining of two contrasting, contradictory or incongruous terms. ? Used to disclose the inner contradictions of one thing and to describe psychological activities. ? Eg. 1. There was an audible stillness in which mon voice sounded strange. ? 2. What has happened was a normal aberration( 过失). I despise its very vastness and power. It has the poorest millionaires , the littlest great men, the haughtiest beggars, the plainest beauties , the lowest skyscrapers, the dolefulest (saddest) pleasures of any town I ever saw. (O.Henry)
